Hi again! ^^
I'm taking a little break right now to make this post!
A few minutes ago I got the cast list for the play/musical? that I'm in for Advanced Children's theater! :D
I didn't get the part that I necessarily wanted... But that's okay n_n I'm thankful for what I got even though it's a small part haha! I auditioned to be a munchkin but I ended up getting the part of a barrister....... u_u.. Oh well! I'll just add my own "flavor" into it and make it my own character haha :D If you guys haven't noticed already by the munchkin and barrister thing LOL the play I'm in is The Wizard of Oz! I'm super excited!
I was super nervous for my auditions and it was my first time auditioning for something like this too! eep!
Now this isn't necessarily a post that I would normally do.... And do take note that I am definitely not a professional ^^ This is actually my first year in a theater program! But I just wanted to give you guys a few tips on how to prepare, get rid of the butterflies in your tummy, and to be relaxed!
Tip #1~
It's definitely important to stay hydrated especially if you're singing or just even acting! Seriously, hydrate yourself ^^ Drinking lots of water will keep your throat and vocal chords hydrated so that way when you're doing your thing your voice won't be so strained ^^ What I did was heat-up water so that it was warm but not too warm, and added some honey in it! Since honey does have super moisturizing effects, it really helped to soothe my throat and keep it moisturized!
Tip #2 Practice practice practice
Practice makes perfect! :D Practice a lot! Practice by yourself, in front of family, and friends and ask for their opinion on how you did! Practicing for your audition is definitely a given, but once you practice more, you'll feel a lot more confident about auditioning!
Tip #3 Be confident!
Even if you're not, pretend to be confident when you're auditioning! Don't be so conservative and just go out there and do your thing! Work it!
---Now this is what I really regret about my audition and felt that I could have done better, I was too inside my shell and didn't go all out there, which I wish I did. I think that through this audition, it made me realize that I really do like performing arts and auditioning! I'm also going to be auditioning for my school's vocal ensemble for next year :D I was planning on auditioning last year but all the slots were taken.. T_T
Forget what other people are thinking! Just go all out and give it your all!
Even though it was my first time auditioning, I think the butterflies in my stomach were more of excitement than being nervous! Now of course I was super nervous too, but thinking back, I really liked the feeling of auditioning it was something fun to do, as it's definitely taking a step out of my comfort zone.
Just stay positive because you'll do fine! Even if you do or don't or get a small part it's okay because hey, you auditioned and made an effort! I hope this helped and gave you guys some comfort.... Even though it's only a few tips, I hope it helped :)
If you guys have any other tips definitely feel free to leave them in the comments!
I hope you guys talk to me hehe!
